Spindle

Spindle is a vinyl scrobbler on a Raspberry Pi beside the turntable. It listens to a split of the line-out, fingerprints ten-second windows every two seconds with AcoustID and ShazamIO, and scrobbles to Last.fm with Spotify's canonical artist and title, so record plays stack with streaming plays. Its signature is album-lock: identify one track, fetch the tracklist, backfill what already played and predict the rest of the side from durations, with tolerances for speed drift and where the needle landed. A 3.5-inch LCD shows the cover.

I built it in four days in March 2026 with Claw, my own AI agent: it wrote most of the code to my spec while I designed the pipeline, wired the rig and debugged it on the Pi. About 4,000 lines of Python in 12 modules, an offline queue that survives dropped WiFi and reboots, a Telegram bot for status and history, a systemd unit, and the driver for the Waveshare LCD. It has scrobbled my record sides since, Madvillainy included, and is open source under MIT.
