Litter Critter

Litter Critter is an autonomous robot that finds litter on the ground, picks it up and sorts it into trash, recycling or compost. A camera on a Raspberry Pi 4 spots the item, Claude classifies it, the drivetrain closes in, and a VIAM robotic arm grabs it and drops it in the right bin on board. Built for roadside litter, where collecting by hand is dangerous.

Built at MakeMIT x Harvard 2026, a 24-hour hardware hackathon of 269 builders, with Magnus Adams, Michael Malyshev, Sasha Malysheva, Eric Nguyen and Prayag Patel. I wrote the robot's software: the Claude vision classifier, the VIAM arm control, the drivetrain and the state machine that runs the search, approach and sort loop. 1st place in the Sustainability track.
